Like OilMaster, the active ingredients for MetalMaster systems are lignocellulosic, usually plant-based, materials. The purpose of this product is to remove heavy metals from polluted water. This heavy metal filtration process is achieved through a combination of the composition of the raw materials and the passing of heavy metal contaminated water through a vessel containing the MetalMaster product.
Engineered systems to utilize MetalMaster are required for each specific contaminated site. The Company is currently working with an engineering firm on a pool of chromium contaminated ground water in Rochester, New York. The project equipment system was put into operation at the end of May 2008.
There are three types of application projects for MetalMaster:
- Site Remediation; where the source has created a finite quantity of contamination.
- Industrial Process Applications; where there are manufacturing operations that produce a byproduct flow of contaminated water or other effluent.
- Electroplating industry; where metal cleanup is a necessity.
Biogas is becoming an important alternative source of energy. Biogas is generated by the action of microbes on organic waste products in an anaerobic digestion, such as occurs at landfills or farm manure digesters. The gases from landfills and from other sources, such as on-farm manure digestion, contain methane that can be used for energy production. This biogas, however, frequently is contaminated by hydrogen sulfide, which is toxic, highly corrosive to machinery and has an unpleasant rotten egg odor. For efficient energy production from biogas, the hydrogen sulfide must be removed. Terrenew is working to commercialize the removal of hydrogen sulfide with the use of an amended MetalMaster material which is highly effective and cost efficient in certain pollution and wastewater clean ups.
OilMaster - Eco-Friendly Oil Absorbents facilitate cleanup of oil, gasoline and other hydrocarbon-based fluids spills from water surfaces, tanks, garages, industrical locations and homes. The hydrophobic OilMaster - Oil Absorbent Pads and Sheets are uniquely designed to repel water and quickly absorb spills of oil, gasoline, paint, etc.. There are several environmental remediation firms using OilMaster Oil Absorbents in their emergency response and environmental clean-up activities.
One example is Adirondack Environmental Enterprises, Inc. based in Utica, NY. Dan Clemmons, of AEE says,” …that they used to use a clay-based oil sorbent but that OilMaster Oil Absorbents are a better product and it is 100% organic and biodegradable as well. We use it for cleaning out old oil tanks as well as for spill response above the ground. It used to take up to 7 bags of the old clay absorbent compared to one bag of OilMaster”.
Terrenew is heavily involved in a wide range of environmental remediation solutions with products designed for the the removal of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) and Heavy Metal remediation, oil spill containment and general spill containment and emergency response industries on several fronts with a variety of products:
